WALLS AND FLOORS
In the beginning of May, our team reached a significant milestone in the construction of Casa Nidus. We finalized the structure and began installing the metal decking system that will support the concrete floors. This crucial step allowed us to start pouring concrete for the second floor and the roof shortly thereafter.
With the floors in place, our attention turned to the interior spaces. Over the following months, we began placing the interior block walls that separate various areas within the home. Concurrently, we installed the framework for the cast-in-place concrete walls, a feature that adds a striking contrast of material to the residence. Once the concrete was poured into the forms, we removed the formwork to reveal the intricate textures imprinted into the concrete, creating a visually engaging surface.
The process of constructing these concrete walls is meticulous and time-consuming. Each wall has a unique shape and requires careful planning and execution, including the creation of formwork, the integration of internal structures for stairs, and the placement of pipes and electrical connections before pouring the concrete. Despite the complexity, the construction of Casa Nidus is progressing swiftly.
It's immensely gratifying to see our design taking shape on site. The spaces are interacting harmoniously with the natural light and the surrounding environment, fulfilling the vision we had during the design phase. During a recent site visit, we identified an opportunity to enhance the design significantly. By expanding a few walls, we can create a more generous loft space above the living room. We spent the following days working out the details of these changes, and how they fit in with the existing conditions to prevent any significant delays. This loft, offering the best views in the house, will be an exceptional area for both work and relaxation. Additionally, we plan to add an access point to the roof, further enhancing the functionality of the space.
Overall, the construction of Casa Nidus is proceeding smoothly, and we are confident that the final result will be as beautiful as we envisioned. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to bring this project to life.
